Saturday November 5, 2011 9:30am Wacky & Wild Adventures with David Shannon David will read some of his choice stories from over the past decades of his writing. He will also entertain the audience with his tales of how he got started, insights to his style of work, and how he continues to generate new and fresh ideas for his insatiable and dedicated readers. Large Community Room
10:30am Marla Frazee & Liz Garton Scanlon present “All the World” This dynamic duo will discuss the process of how an author and illustrator work independently and together to create an amazing product. Large Community Room
Adult writing workshop “Plotting your Novel” SCWBI (1.5 OPI credit) This workshop will teach you how to create a plot, weave subplots and some easy techniques used in scriptwriting that can serve as a template for writing a novel. Attendees will also learn about turning points or transition points—points in the plots at which your protagonist’s problem-solving action turns in a new direction. Small Conference Room

12pm Lunch with the Authors! Delicious lunches for purchase, supplied by Rocky Mtn. Roasting Co. where participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk one on one with the featured authors/illustrators. Large Community Room
1pm Keynote: Paint a Picture with David Shannon Be inspired by this amazing children’s writer and illustrator. Through humor and heartwarming life lessons you will be invited to sit back and enjoy the ride in this “don’t want to miss” keynote address. Large Community Room

2:30pm Inspired by… A conversation with David, Marla, and Liz In this session attendees will learn what the authors/illustrators were like as young people, how they chose the directions they did and what advice they have to offer parents, teachers, kids…
3:30pm Marla Story Time Read aloud from some of her much-loved stories captivating the audience with tales of creativity. She will share how she makes her art come alive. Large Community Room
4:00pm Liz Story Time Read aloud from some of her favorite stories in the poetic rhythm that only Liz can do! Large Community Room
