We're so excited to reminisce with local author Carolyn Hopper, as she regales us with fish tales with her new book Fishing With My Father, and examines two lives lived, that of father and daughter.
"Carolyn Hopper has penned a moving valentine to the most influential man in her life-a meditation on the current of life to which all daughters and their dads can relate." -Todd Wilkinson
More about Fishing With My Father
Two years after her dad passed away, Carolyn discovered letters her dad and his dad wrote to each other that provided Carolyn a glimpse into a man she realized she had never met. These, combined with the lyrics of a song she heard on the ride home from a special memorial service for her dad, stirred in her both an intense desire to know her dad on a deeper level and questions about whether her dad ever really knew her on any level. This book is her letter to him.
More about Carolyn Hopper
For as long as I can remember, I have loved playing in the out doors -- from a childhood in Concord, Massachusetts, to Connecticut and now in Montana. I've always been curious about the natural world even while I was raising a family, running a bed and breakfast in Annapolis, Maryland, and making my move to Montana in 2005. When I'm not playing outside, reading, writing poems and stories, and dancing keep me occupied. Lately, I've been fortunate to be able to travel to far flung places. Ireland remains a favorite. Some day I hope to get in some fly fishing there as well as explore more of the country than I've seen during workshops including writing and delving into Celtic Consciousness. And I will always hold my husband Dan in my heart as my favorite travel companion.
