Intellectual Freedom Resources & Online Trivia Challenges are Now Available
Event partners ACLU Montana, Belgrade Community Library, Bozeman Public Library, Country Bookshelf, Friends of MSU Library, and MSU Library have made the difficult decision to cancel Banned Books Trivia.
Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalization, event partners ACLU Montana, Belgrade Community Library, Bozeman Public Library, Country Bookshelf, Friends of MSU Library, and MSU Library have canceled the in-person Banned Books Trivia event.
“This difficult decision was made out of a concern for public safety,” said Corey Fifles, event committee chair and outreach librarian at Bozeman Public Library. “This would have been our fourth annual banned books trivia event and the first to be held in Belgrade. While we are disappointed to have to cancel it, it was the right thing to do. We look forward to continuing with this tradition in 2022.”
The trivia event was to be part of Banned Books Week, an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. In lieu of an actual event, the committee offers a number of resources for so you can learn about banned books, intellectual freedom, and your right to read. MSU Library’s Banned Books Week LibGuide is a great place to start. It offers resources, book lists, and more. You can also test your knowledge by participating in two Kahoot trivia challenges.
Event partners wish to thank Bar 3 BBQ and Brewing in Belgrade for their interest in hosting the event, and Chrysti the Wordsmith for her willingness to serve as master of ceremonies. The planning committee looks forward to working with Bar 3 and Chrysti in the future.
