Ivan Doig published 16 memoirs and novels between 1978 and 2015. His last four published books were written after his diagnosis with multiple myeloma, the disease that ultimately took his life in April 2015.
This discussion series will be led by Jan Zauha, Humanities and Outreach Librarian at Montana State University, and will focus on Doig’s novels written while he managed his disease. We’ll discuss the books and explore supplemental materials from the MSU Library’s Ivan Doig Archive (http://ivandoig.montana.edu) to understand more fully the connections between the writer’s medical journey and his creative process.
These discussions will take place on the last Monday evenings of June through September and will be held at the Country Bookshelf (28 W. Main St., Bozeman, MT, phone 406-587-0166) from 6-7 PM.
The titles we’ll discuss are
- June 24: Work Song (published 2010)
- July 29: The Bartender's Tale (2012)
- August 26: Sweet Thunder (2013)
- September 30: Last Bus to Wisdom (2015)
You are welcome to join us for any or all of these discussions. No registration is necessary. If you have questions or would like to be placed on an email distribution list for reminders and updates, please contact Jan Zauha at firstname.lastname@example.org
